About the course
Masters of Microsoft® Licensing
Software licence terms can be complex and consequently they are often misunderstood. As a result, many organisations are unknowingly exposed to compliance risks and in some cases also spending money on software licences that are not required.
Maintaining a strong in-house knowledge of software licence terms is recommended by both the ISO SAM Standard and ITIL SAM best practice guidelines and it is essential to an organisations ability to proactively and effectively;
- Make strategic and informed licensing decisions.
- Optimise spend by knowing what licences you need, the quantities you require and the reasons why you need them.
- Maximise ROI by being aware of the usage rights and benefits your licences provide and by having the knowledge to make intelligent use of existing licences.
- Identify and mitigate compliance risks and avoid the common mistakes that expose organisations to licence deficiencies.

On the other hand, simple configuration changes and server consolidations can also reduce your ongoing licensing costs and reduce your risk exposure, often without having to spend a cent.
It is essential that everyone who plays a role in the deployment and configuration of your Microsoft software environment has a sound knowledge of software licence terms to ensure costly mistakes aren’t made and to ensure your environment is configured in a manner which optimises your licensing requirements.
