Where do I find Microsoft’s official software licence terms?
If, like most organisations, you acquire Microsoft licences through a Microsoft Volume Licence agreement, then the Product Terms (PT) document is where you will find Microsoft’s licence terms. If you are using Microsoft online services, you will also need to review terms outlined in the Online Services Terms (OST) document.
Both documents are available as downloads from the Microsoft “Licensing Terms” website (link to site via button at the bottom of this post). Both documents are updated on a monthly basis and only include the licence terms for products and services that are available at that time. If an older set of licence terms is applicable to your software usage (which is often the case depending on when you acquired the licence and which agreement you acquired the licence through), then archived versions of these documents are also available from the same site.
Microsoft has also recently released a new “Product Terms” site that combines the terms from both the PT and OST documents into a single website view and Microsoft states that this site “will eventually replace both the PT and OST” (link to site via button at the bottom of this post).
