What is the Microsoft Cloud?
The Microsoft Cloud is a term that is typically used to describe software and services hosted by Microsoft including its Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) offerings.
As a general rule, Microsoft is considered to have 3 different cloud environments; 1. Azure, 2. Microsoft 365 and 3. Dynamics 365.
Please Note:
- The Microsoft 365 Cloud was previously known as the Office 365 Cloud (it was re-branded in April 2020).
- The Microsoft 365/Office 365 Cloud is effectively a cloud environment that hosts Microsoft 365/Office 365 software and services, but it should not be confused with Microsoft 365 and Office 365 User Subscription Licences (USL’s) such as Microsoft 365 F1, F3, E3 and E5 USL’s or Office 365 E1, E3 or E5 USL’s, which are effectively the subscription licences that an organisation needs to be able to access the software and services running in the Microsoft 365/Office 365 Cloud.
